SAFER INTERNET DAYS

Safer Internet Day 2020

This year the theme of Safer Internet Day is "Free to be me". This theme encourages young people to explore identity online and how the internet shapes the way individuals think about themselves and others.

There are a range of activities we can do with children to help us to celebrate differences online and help us work towards creating a truly inclusive internet. This is an ideal opportunity to start a conversation with your child about their online profile. By opening up conversations around identity online, young people can be inspired and empowered to support each other to be who they want to be both online and offline. Safer Internet Day 2019

On Tuesday 5th February, the school celebrated Safer Internet Day. Each Key Stage took part in a tailored assembly where they learned about how to make the internet a more positive place to be. Following that, the children completed further activities in classes, deepening their understanding of the internet, its benefits, some of the risks they may encounter and how to deal with them effectively. They thought about their personal information and what they should publish online, how to create safe passwords and giving permission to companies and friends when using the internet. Have a look at the photographs to see some of their completed work.

Safer Internet Day 2018

Safer Internet Day took place across the country on Tuesday 6th February 2018. The children started the day with an assembly where they spent time thinking about how to stay safe online. The children then spent time in their classes, building a deeper understanding of e-safety and finding out how to stay safe on the internet.

Year 3/4 Safer Internet Work

Year 1 Safer Internet Work

As part of our E-safety themed day we were introduced to Smartie the penguin. Smartie was only a young penguin and didn’t know what to do if something confusing happened when he was using the internet. We wrote Smartie a letter advising him to seek the help of a grown up when he was unsure. We also made little penguin puppets to help us remember the story and remind us at home what we should do if we are unsure. Finally we had a chance to try out some safe games on the internet that we could use at home and that we could trust would keep us safe.
