Soroptimists tree planting
In 2021, the Soroptimists celebrated their centenary. To mark the occasion, they planted 100 trees in Bickershaw Country Park. They asked the school to take part in a competition to design the logo for the sign, which has been placed near to the tree planting site. Today, Ava, who was the overall winner, along with Ellis and Ella, who were KS2 runners up went along to the sign unveiling. All of the trees that have been planted are native trees which will go on to provide valuable habitat for birds and insects.

Outdoor Carol Service

This year, children from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 led an Outdoor Carol Service for parents and children. The children sang songs and read Christmas poems and readings, to fill the community with Christmas spirit.

Christmas Fair

We were delighted this year to again be able to host our annual Christmas Fair outdoors. Despite the weather, the Fair was well attended with members of the community joining us to see a range of stalls and meet Father Christmas. We raised an amazing total of £1026, which was split between church and school fund.

During this difficult time, we hope this video of children, staff and volunteer librarians helps to brighten your day.

Victoria Fields

School have enjoyed being involved in creating a heritage trail called 'The Lost Boys of Bickershaw' around Victoria Fields. Children visited the Museum of Wigan Life to research local WW1 casualties as well as spending time in Victoria Fields familiarising ourselves with the local area. The children also worked with the artist Lucy Wray to create the poppy route markers.

Community Christmas lunch in school

We invited Elderly people from the community to visit our school and have Christmas Lunch. Year 3/4 class sang them Christmas carols and hymns. They then gave each of them gifts they had wrapped and cards they had made themselves.
